Domizzi Saga Takes New Twist

Post  dicanio_michael on Thu Aug 28, 2008 12:01 am

The 28-year-old was previously reported to be part of a swap deal involving Lazio’s Guglielmo Stendardo, but negotiations stalled and Sampdoria came knocking in an attempt to land the talented players signature. Yesterday, new reports suggested that a move to Lazio may have been reignited and the player would soon be on his way to Rome.

Now, the transfer saga has taken a new direction. The Gazzetto Dello Sport is reporting that Greek giants Panathinaikos have expressed their interest in the player, hoping to take him off Napoli's hands. Siena and Chievo have also shown an interest, but the Italian duo are pushin for a more financially realistic loan deal.

The former Sampdoria and Brescia player has been unsettled of late and it seems certain that the defender will leave the Partenopei within in the next few days. Domizzi still has three years left on his contract, allowing the Azzurri to hold out for the best deal possible.

Various teams want the powerful Domizzi bolster their back lines. However, the transfer market will close in ten days, meaning that interested parties, be they domestic or from abroad, will have to act quickly.
